Today I will do a review on the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation.
This foundation is very popular among many women and has many good reviews as well as many bad reviews. This post will just be MY personal opinion on the foundation and what my experience has been with it. I purchased this foundation at Sephora for a whopping 42$ which is big for me, since I like drugstore foundations such as Revlon Colorstay or my Garnier BB Cream. Which both retail at around 12$. I've had this product a little over a month, and I waited so long to review this so I could fully get an impression of it. I have this in the color "Syracuse".
When I first went to Sephora they gave me the Too Faced air buffed BB Creme. Which was great...for the first ten minutes. After I buffed it into my skin it began to BURN so badly. I think I am allergic or something to it. So I went back to find something else and then they gave me the Sephora brand liquid foundation. That also didn't work for me too well and it oxidized into a terrible shade WAY too dark for my skin. So of course I went back AGAIN, and I guess I more or less "settled" for this foundation. This isn't the best I've used, and it also isn't the worst i've used. And now I will tell you why~
The Packaging~
When you first look at the packaging it looks nice, a glass bottle with a matte lid. The box is simple and nicely made, good marketing on the designer's part. NARS is written in big letters on both the box and the bottle.
So pretty~
A closeup of the bottle itself~
As well as some very questionable ingredients...
Now I really REALLY DESPISE foundation without a pump most of the time. The only exception I have is Revlon Colorstay because the lid is also round and easier to put back on without smudging it all over. As you can see the lid on this foundation has like and outer lid or whatever that kinda makes me blind when I put it back on and I smudge some all over the bottom of the lid. Also I am dissapointed because the lady at the store showed me it with a pump on so I got excited and she forgot to mention you have to buy the pump separately for like 10$.
Also when you pour out the product, it can get clogged or something, because the foundation comes straight to the top because of a bubble, deceiving you making you think its full but as soon as the little bubble below the opening pops, you've got 42$ foundation all over your hand that you must use or waste.
The Coverage/Demo~
This foundation has medium coverage. Of course you can build it up to full, but that might make the "sheer" look go away a bit. If you have good skin for the most part, with only slight discoloration and redness, this foundation might work best by itself. I have a lot of acne scars as well as discoloration around my mouth and chin, that makes me look like I have a 4 o'clock shadow, so I use a concealer underneath this. I also would like to note I have combination skin. On my T-zone and upper cheeks I am very oily, and on my cheeks and neck I am very dry and ashy. More on how this foundation works for that later on~
For this review I will be doing half my face with a light application.
I started off with a completely bare face, only SPF and moisturizer in this photo.
As you can see I have MANY dark spots from past acne that are very very slowly fading away. My acne is gone for the most part, but my complexion is far from perfect. Most days I will use my MAC Studio Finish Concealer to cover all the little imperfections. For this I will JUST do the foundation so I can show you how it is by itself.
I use a cosmetic sponge for this foundation, or a stippling brush when I need more coverage.
Now I wet it and ring it out!
This foundation is a very yellow-based foundation, which is good for me since I am asian and I have a very golden undertone.

So I put some on the back of my hand, and you can see it is very creamy and a yellow-ish color. It looks way too light on my hand but I promise you, it is not. I got super tan on my body when I moved to Texas so that is why my face and neck is lighter.
Next I apply the foundation on my face in swipes, and then dab it in to seal it onto my skin.
When I apply this foundation it goes on very smoothly. The smell isn't overbearing, although it does have a smell. It does go on smoothly as well as it does have a nice healthy glow when first applied.
Here is the results~~
Even with my bad cell phone camera you can see it makes quite a nice difference, even with the small amount I applied. Although it doesn't completely cover my dark spots or circles under my eyes, it applies nicely and looks like my own skin! It even has a soft, dewy look so that it looks like REAL skin instead of foundation. It has a beautiful finish and looks natural and glowing.

Until an hour later. FOR ME this foundation becomes kinda crappy (if you have oily skin like me) after a few hours. I find myself CONSTANTLY blotting my nose and forehead or putting powder. It breaks up around the most oily places and also can become very fake looking. I also noticed that it oxidizes!!! So bad!!! It becomes too dark for my face and it like, idk soaks up my concealer or something because halfway through the day you can see my spots again. Personally I do not like it for long time wear. If you are just going somewhere casual like school or out for errands, than yes it can be great. But if using for something long or something where you will be out in the heat for, I don't recommend it.
Overall~
PROS: This foundation can be built up, gives a nice natural skin look, good for photos, nice easy texture that is very forgiving to work with, best with dryer skin types.
CONS: Expensive as shiiiitttt!! Can be too yellow for caucasian skin types, oxidizes to a darker shade, not good for oily/combo skin.
RATING: 6/10
I suppose the pros outweigh the cons, which explains why I kept it. Plus I haven't been wearing foundation for as long during the day as I use to, so for me it stays good when I run errands or things like that. I like to mix it with my SPF because that has that white-ish cast that sunblocks leave and it lightens up the foundation a bit so when it oxidizes it will go to a tone that matches my neck. I still do love the way it looks after applied and it lasts an hour or two without becoming quite shiny and unmanageable. It didn't break me out or anything like that, and I can use this for special occasions and stick to my BB cream or Colorstay for regular use.
Well thank you for reading my review! Any questions about the product or if I forgot to add something please comment or email me! Thank you~
bye~bye~
